What better way to experience Ottawa than with your four-legged best friend? The city is full of dog-friendly shops, patios, greenspaces and festivals, all awaiting the arrival of you and your pup. Grab the leash, treats and water and make your way to one of these dog-friendly locations.
- Retailers: A variety of retailers, from clothing shops to hardware stores, allow leashed dogs. If you’re looking to take your pup to an outdoor equipment store, try Cabela’s, SAIL or MEC. Are home improvement stores more your thing? Canadian Tire, Home Depot and HomeSense have you and your four-legged friend covered. For clothing stores, head to Tanger Outlets (check with the individual retailers first!) and Winners.
- Patios & breweries: If you’re looking for a date night out that includes your pup, there’s no better place to go than a dog-friendly patio or brewery. Tavern at the Gallery, The King Eddy, NCC Bistro, Bicycle Craft Brewery and Stray Dog Brewing are just a few accommodating patios and pubs.
- Outdoor spaces: Ottawa is blessed with greenspaces and outdoor activities that are pet-friendly. If you’re looking for a dog park, check out Bruce Pit or Conroy Pit. For heading out to hike, Gatineau Park is completely dog-friendly, as long as your pup is leashed.
- Festivals & events: Usually big events won’t allow dogs, but there are a few Ottawa events that do! Of course, the ByWard Barket is a must for your pup. This day is dedicated to your dog, filled with special pet businesses, dog events and fashion shows and vendors to spoil your dog.
When taking your pup to any business around Ottawa, always be sure to clean up after them, keep them hydrated and leashed and enjoy your time out with your furry friend.
